China honors lives lost in the coronavirus outbreak

People in Beijing were seen pausing along streets during the national moment of mourning for martyrs and deceased compatriots. /Xinhua

Air raid sirens and horns of automobiles, trains and ships were wailing, while national flags flew at half-mast across the country and in Chinese embassies and consulates abroad. /Xinhua

A total of 3,326 people died of COVID-19 on the Chinese mainland, according to the National Health Commission on Saturday. /Xinhua

April 4 is Tomb-Sweeping Day, or Qingming Festival in China, a time when families gather to commemorate ancestors and clean their graves. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, many on-site tomb-sweeping activities were suspended to avoid gatherings. /Xinhua
