Sirens sounded at 10 a.m. Saturday morning in Taiyuan, capital of north China's Shanxi Province. In the city's downtown square, cars passing by also stopped to honk. The national flag flew at half mast. Many pedestrians, residents living or working nearby, traffic police and public security staff all stopped to mourn for three minutes.
