Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed that mutual trust is important in global cooperation against the COVID-19 during his phone calls with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas and Josep Borrell Fontelles, EU high representative for foreign affairs and security policy.

Wang said that China has always attached great importance to the quality of its export products and has introduced strict regulatory measures, adding that currently, qualified enterprises are producing at full capacity to meet the needs of various countries for medical supplies.

Countries should resolve differences about the purchase of goods through consultation on an equal footing, he said.

Stigmatizing quality of products in any forms is not conducive to anti-epidemic cooperation, he noted.

Maas agreed that it is not wise to blame others in the current severe situation, and it is also inappropriate to hype the quality of products.

During the call with the high representative, Wang stressed avoiding politicalization of cooperation amid the outbreak and said that China's aid to Europe is in the spirit of international humanitarianism.

Given that virus respects no borders, all countries should work together to win the battle, Wang noted, adding that he believes the bilateral mutual trust and cooperation can be further deepened and strengthened after the pandemic.

Noting that the pandemic has not only resulted in human deaths, but it has also had a serious economic impact, Josep Borrell said he agreed that countries should cooperate in the fight against the virus and he appreciated China's help to EU members.
