French hospitals have transformed diving masks into ventilators to cope with the overload in intensive care units. Doctors have repurposed snorkeling gear and added a piece of 3D-printed apparatus that separates incoming and outgoing air from ventilators. The masks were produced by sports equipment company Decathlon, which has so far donated 30,000 diving masks to health personnel in France.
