Many of the more than 40,000 medical workers and other personnel who went to Hubei Province to help are returning home. More than a quarter of them were born after 1990. Liu Jiayi is a nurse from southern China's Guangdong Province. She was born in 2000. As the youngest team member, she used to be treated as a child by her teammates. But Liu saw herself as more. "When I wear the protective gear, I'm no longer a child," Liu said. Medical workers like Liu are part of the country's young generation and they have been the hope for many patients in the fight against COVID-19.
