Beijing's Temple of Heaven used to be a royal altar where emperors worshiped heaven for good harvests in Ming and Qing dynasties. Besides its historical significance, ancient trees with hundreds of years of history are another outstanding ecological assets that set the park apart from other parks in the capital city.
