How has social distancing or life under quarantine been? Are you reading, baking or enjoying sunbathing on the balcony? Perhaps you are being taught classes virtually? In contrast, one Chinese student in the city of Suzhou, eastern China's Anhui Province, has been disciplining himself to do physical exercises without direct tutoring. Here's his story.

Liu Chuanhe, the 19-year-old sports student, has been kept at home due to the postponing of school commencement during the COVID-19 outbreak. To maintain the training intensity, Liu has been keeping himself up for 82 days with morning and afternoon exercises, and solely by himself.

His daily routine involves waking up at 7 a.m. to do some reading, learning or stretching, and then taking a nap at noon. After that he spends three and a half hours training, and then does some more reading in the evening before bedtime.

Training facilities are not fairly common in rural areas. However, undeterred by the conditions, Liu started using bricks, tires and even felloes for weight training.

Liu's family has been taking turns to help out and check if the postures are correct. Each day he makes a video and send it to his coach for review.

After over two months of hard work in the mud, late January to early April, his pair of training shoes has worn out already.

When being asked the purpose of his intensive daily training by a journalist from the Beijing News, Liu said that he really wanted to get into university and thus training was essential to stay in peak condition.

In late March, China's Ministry of Education announced postponing the national college entrance examination, or Gaokao, by a month, to July 7 and 8 because of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
