Researchers have attempted to trace the origins of the coronavirus by analyzing genetic information from human patients. But Professor Wu Zhiwei, director of the Center for Public Health Research at the Medical School of Nanjing University, says the origin of the virus and its transmission pathways are "much more complicated" than previously thought.
