Daniel Levy, chairman of Tottenham Hotspur, has agreed to sell the team's ace striker Harry Kane to Manchester United, according to Mirror, as long as the Red Devils pay world record 200 million pounds (about 249 million U.S. dollars).

Having scored 181 goals for the north London club, Kane has proved himself as a top killer in the Premier League but has not won anything at the club level. He has not played since January because of hamstring injury. Without him and Son Heung-min, the Spurs continued to disappoint their fans as they were knocked out from the UEFA Champions League and dropped to No. 8 on the standings table.

Last month, Kane confirmed that he would not stay in the team "simply for the sake of it" and his remarks inflamed Levy's anger.

The chairman's short temper is not the only reason behind Levy's willingness to sell Kane. In fact, it's more of a financial decision. The Spurs currently owe about 83 million pounds (about 103 million U.S. dollars) of transfer fees and have one billion pounds (about 1.2 billion U.S. dollars) to pay for their new stadium.

Though Man United will hardly pay 200 million for Kane, their paycheck should still help the Spurs alleviate their financial strain.

Man United surely want Kane. They have many things that require improvement and finding a qualified central striker is definitely one of them. Compared with Odion Ighalo, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial, Kane will be a more reliable offensive choice for his experience and efficiency.

Former ace striker of the two clubs Dimitar Berbatov who left the Spurs for Man United in 2008 understands how Kane felt at this stage of his career because Berbatov has been there himself.

"I see a lot of similarities in the situation I went through and what is happening with Kane at the minute … I feel that it's also a similar time in his career that I was at, you start to think if you're on the right path and you think about winning things," said Berbatov.
