Yuan Dynasty City Wall Relics Park is the largest belt park in Beijing. A refurbishment project was launched in 2003 to both improve the environment along the Xiaoyue River and protect the historical heritage sites within the area. It was part of the efforts by the Chinese capital city to prepare for the 2008 Olympic Games. Thanks to the transformation, the park now has the largest urban artificial wetland across the city, providing a piece of agreeable land for biodiversity and for the residents to get close to nature.
