Beatríz Oquendo and Esteban Barrera live in Cúcuta, Colombia, which sits along the border with Venezuela. Preventing the COVID-19 outbreak here is not an easy task. Knowing that many medics were without proper protective suits, Oquendo and Barrera adapted a model used during the H1N1 outbreak and designed a new version. With help from nearby workshops, the garments are being produced nonstop and delivered to medics, police and other people who need them. Every time they see people working in the suits they produced, they feel moved and relieved, because the safety of people in Cúcuta is their greatest wish.
