Answer Bank: Can high intensity exercise strengthen your immune system?
Zhang Ziyu

"If you work out at home, we don't recommend high-intensity exercise for a long time," said Xu Jianfang, a professor from the General Administration of Sport of China, at a press conference.

Excessive exercises are likely to decrease our immune function, Xu said, adding that people need to stop exercising if they feel sick.

Depending on your age and habits, we recommend different forms of exercise.

For healthy adults who exercise regularly, High-intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is a good way to improve heart and lung functions.

HIIT doesn't require any equipment, which is convient for those who can't go to the gym during the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, the elderly and children are recommended to exercise at medium and low intensity. And proper rest between exercises is necessary.
