U.S. weekly jobless claims top 5.2 million

A total of 5.245 million more Americans have filed for unemployment benefits in the week ending April 11 as the coronavirus pandemic continues making impact in the country.

According to latest U.S. Department of Labor statement, the number was down from a slightly revised 6.615 million the week before.

To date, the total filings for claims over the past month have broke an astounding 20 million.
