Thousands of “net cafe refugees,” or cash-strapped people living in all-night Internet and comic lounges in Japan, are seeking housing as outlets are forced to close during the coronavirus pandemic. Some local authorities are now opening shelters to accommodate "net cafe refugees" and keep them from sleeping out in the open.
