A Chinese plane carrying over 2,000 COVID-19 test kits landed in the Syrian capital Damascus on April 15 to help the country fight the pandemic.

Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad thanked China and said the assistance showed China's sincerity to help his country.

Since the first case of COVID-19 was reported less than a month ago in the country, the Syrian government has placed curfews, closed borders and non-essential public places to prevent the spread of the pandemic.
