6.9-magnitude quake strikes off Japan's Ogasawara Islands, no tsunami warning issued

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 struck off the west coast of Japan's Ogasawara Islands on Saturday, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

The quake happened at 17:26 JST (0826 GMT) on Saturday at a depth of 490 km. JMA said there's no tsunami risk, and there are no immediate reports of damages and casualties.

The quake logged four in some parts of the Ogasawara Islands on the Japanese seismic intensity scale, which peaks at seven.
