U.S. President Donald Trump and his Republic of Korean (ROK) counterpart Moon Jae-in held a telephone conversation on the current COVID-19 pandemic and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), the ROK presidency said on Saturday.

The White House also confirmed the talk in a statement, saying "both leaders agreed to continue working together to defeat the pandemic and restore global economic growth. The two presidents also discussed ways to further strengthen the United States-Republic of Korea security relationship."

According to Yonhap, Trump hailed ROK's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, saying it was the best model for tackling the disease and expressed his gratitude to the country for the supply of test kits.

The two sides agreed to continue cooperation in the quarantine sector.

Regarding the DPRK, President Trump reaffirmed his commitment to a policy of directly engaging the country diplomatically. The two leaders agreed to provide the DPRK with humanitarian aid to help the country fight against COVID-19, Yonhap reported.

This was the second phone conversation between the two leaders in less than a month.
