China has been providing medical supplies, training and other resources to South Pacific countries including Vanuatu and Samoa to help them brace for COVID-19. Both countries are COVID-19-free as of April 19, with Chinese medical aid helping them to prepare.
In Vanuatu, a Chinese plane loaded with pandemic-prevention supplies landed at Port Vila. Following the landing, Chinese enterprises built 12 isolation wards for the local hospital within days. In Apia, the capital city of Samoa, China's third batch of medics is providing medical training for local doctors while running diagnoses for residents.
