A fresh batch of medical supplies donated by the Chinese people arrived at Chile's Embassy in Beijing on Friday. The donations include goggles, surgical masks and gloves, valued at 45,000 yuan (about 6,300 U.S. dollars.)
"We need to work together. We need to help between different countries. The virus does not recognize borders, nothing," said the ambassador of Chile.
The donors are from two residential communities, who remain concerned about the climbing death toll thousands of miles from their homes.

Over 200 residents from all walks of life participated in the donation.
"My own job is related to medical supplies, so I did some consulting work in this donation. I told my neighbors what supplies were needed for the outbreak and which were urgently needed. I also helped sort out the documents and certificates for the exported goods," said Du Mingyu, a medical supply saleswoman.

In fact, Chile is the sixth country they have lent a helping hand to. Previously, they sent aid to hospitals and NGOs in Italy, Spain, Japan, Switzerland and Australia.
"In order to donate the materials directly to the people in need, we basically contacted all the logistics companies that can send international couriers and made a comparison. We also need to focus on the interface between international logistics and local logistics in foreign countries," said Li Yang, the coordinator of the donation, who is also a restaurant owner.

"In Chinese culture, we are told to respect older people as our own parents, to care for the young ones as our own children. We made this donation with that spirit in mind. It's hard to do. But when we saw the goods finally arrive at the port, we were relieved. We will be so happy if we can save just one life. We are moved by ourselves, and moved by the world," said Cheng Xipeng, a donor and the initiator of the donation in his community.
So far, around 60 companies and organizations have donated to the Chilean Embassy in Beijing.
