Zhongshan Park in central Beijing has welcomed this year's peony blossoms. The history of growing peony in the park dates back to the 1900s. Since then, with continuous breed upgrading and maintenance, peony blooming has become one of the features that make the park famous.
Under good cultivation and management conditions, the life span of the plants can reach more than 100 years. In Beijing, the blooming period usually starts from mid-April and ends around early May.
