Turkey announces cash aid for 2.3 million low-income families

The Turkish government has begun distributing cash aid to over 2.3 million low-income households as the country remains under a lockdown to arrest the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Local authorities announced that each family would be eligible to get over 145 U.S. dollars under the new scheme. To date, Turkey has reported over 86,000 coronavirus cases, emerging as a new hotspot in the Middle East.
