According to World Health Organization, there were 268 confirmed COVID-19 cases and no deaths in Vietnam as of April 18, 2020. The Vietnamese government announced on March 31 that it would implement a 15-day social isolation measure nationwide from April 1. Many people in Vietnam have lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 outbreak. To help, a Vietnamese entrepreneur and his team launched a "Rice ATM" – a project to provide rice to the underprivileged during the pandemic. The rice dispensers are located in Nghia Tan Ward, Cau Giay District and also in Bac Tu Liem District's cultural house in Hanoi. One rice dispenser can provide 3-4 tonnes of rice per day and serve around 1,000 residents everyday (3kg/resident).
