China and Canada have supported each other and cooperated actively since the outbreak of COVID-19, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang at a press conference on Wednesday.
He made the remarks when asked about a report saying that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that three chartered planes sent by Canada to China to pick up medical equipment returned to the country empty Sunday.
Canada has purchased medial materials from China recently and sent chartered planes to Shanghai for transport, Geng said, noting that China has provided assistance and convenience to the Canadian side in licensing charter flights for the procurement of medical materials.
As for the report, Geng said that it was not accurate, according to the corresponding competent department. "China's relevant airports and air traffic control departments have not imposed any restrictions on charter flights' standing time," he detailed.
