Chinese embassy in Spain helping unaccompanied minor students return home

The website of the Chinese Embassy in Spain on Thursday issued a notice on continuing to assist students in Spain return to China on the special flights. 

According to the notice, minors accompanied by their parents are not included in the scope of these temporary flights. Unaccompanied minors Chinese studying in Spain will fly alone without their guardians. Parents should sign a letter of commitment before purchasing tickets.

Due to the closed cabin space and long journey time, the risk of cross-infection is pretty high. Passengers should carefully consider and bear all possible risks on their way home, and consciously accept all kinds of epidemic prevention arrangements before boarding, during the flight and after entry, the notice mentioned.

The notice also stated that the cost of a temporary flight ticket and quarantine period after returning to China should be supported by the students themselves. Airfare is determined by the airline following market principles.

At present, the ticket price for an economy class seat in a direct flight from Madrid to the Chinese mainland is about 30,000-40,000 yuan (about 3,900-5,200 Euros), and that of business class is about 50,000-60,000 yuan (6,500-7,800 Euros). Domestic government COVID-19 testing, isolation and accommodation cost is about 10,000 yuan (1,300 Euros) per person.

Second, registering to the embassy doesn't mean people can fly home immediately. The Chinese Embassy in Spain will make arrangements for the flight home according to the personal situation of the registered person and the order of registration.

If there is no special emergency, the embassy advises against travel and continues to strictly comply with the Spanish government's state of alert decree, home quarantine, strict prevention and control.

The students who plan to take the temporary flight must go through the in-app applets of WeChat in advance and fill in personal data, health status, recent travel information. Details can be found on the official website of the Chinese Embassy in Spain. Students won't be able to board the flights if needed personal information is properly filled or their health condition is abnormal.

Eligible students, underage students and their parents need to register on the website of the Chinese embassy in Spain before 18:00 GMT April 26, according to the notice.
