The qualification examination for primary and secondary school teachers of the first half of 2020 will be postponed to the next half-year, the Chinese Ministry of Education announced on Friday.

Candidates who have registered and paid for the examination can apply for a transfer to the next half of the year or a refund. The validity period of the written test results and passed qualifications can be extended for another year.

The Ministry of Education announced the postpone on its official website on April 24.

Due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, multiple examinations have been canceled or postponed.

Previously, there were other international tests announced the cancellations in May, including the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) and Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). Their examination fees will be fully refunded to candidates.

Public English Test System and National Computer Rank Examination in China also canceled their tests that were scheduled in March. More updates will be informed in the future.

The impact of the outbreak of the COVID-19 on the education industry is various. As most schools suspended classes, changes have been made to online education.
