New Pro-Bowler Laremy Tunsil has reached a three-year, 66-million-U.S.-dollar deal with the Houston Texans, announced the team on Friday.

"Whether we did the contract during the trade or we did it post-trade, we knew that Laremy Tunsil was going to get paid. Because we feel like he is the top left tackle in the National Football League. So we went ahead and we made that trade to make our team better," said Texans' head coach and general manager Bill O'Brien on Friday.

"We're thrilled to have Laremy Tunsil on our team. He's a great guy, he's really committed to the Houston Texans, he's committed to the city of Houston. He understands how important it is to be out in front relative to all of the things we can do help the community in Houston, so we're thrilled."

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Tunsil's new contract contains 50 million U.S. dollars of guaranteed money and will make him the highest-paid offensive lineman in league history. It should be pointed out that the 25-year-old negotiated this deal all by himself without an agent.

Tunsil was selected by the Miami Dolphins with the 13th pick in the 2016 draft. Before the 2019 season began, O'Brien landed him and wide receiver Kenny Stills with two first-round picks and one second-rounder.

Tunsil was a great help to improving the team's revamped offensive line. In 2018, the Texans allowed 68 sacks, the most in the NFL. Tunsil's arrival changed that number to 49, the 25th in the league. Tunsil himself was selected into Pro-Bowl for the first time in his career and he was the Texans' first Pro-bowl offensive lineman since Duane Brown in 2014.

However, Tunsil's problems were also obvious. He had 17 penalties last season and 14 of the were false starts. By contrast, he only committed eight penalties in his last season with the Dolphins.
