Known as the "king of freshwater fish," the Chinese sturgeon is one of the world's largest freshwater fish species. An adult Chinese sturgeon can grow up to five meters in total length, and its weight can reach almost 500 kilograms, which is equivalent to four adult pandas. Most Chinese sturgeons have an average life span of 40 years; however, according to the staff at the Chinese Sturgeon Research Institute of Three Gorges Corp, the fish can live up to 100 years.
