Year 2020 marks the sixth China Digital Reading Conference Online. The conference, which began on April 23, has attracted more than 20 million participants as of April 26.

The theme of the event, that concludes on April 30,  is "E-reading makes your life better," which is considered by some industry insiders as the mainstream trend of digital reading.

The online conference is a necessary response to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, and also an innovative initiative to adapt digital reading for future development.

Participants can enjoy virtual reality bookstores, internet influencers' live streaming and the latest 5G technology. It's not just a gala for bookworms and literature lovers, also for relevant cultural institutions.

According to a white paper released by the China Audio-Video and Digital Publishing Association, the total worth of e-content reading market in China grew to 28.88 billion yuan (about 4.13 billion U.S. dollars) in 2019, marking a year-on-year growth of 13.5 percent.

The data was based on a survey of more than 20 major e-content providers and a corporate industry study, complemented with research on more than 91,600 respondents' reading habits conducted in 209 cities in China.

With the rise of new technologies, cross-screen communication of electronic devices such as mobile phones, computers, e-readers and other electronic devices are pushing the delivery of content to constantly break through the limits of time and space.
