China on Thursday rebuked U.S. President Donald Trump's claim, stating that it has no interest in interfering in the U.S. presidential election, and urged the U.S. to quickly recognize that it should confront with the raging COVID-19 rather than China.

Trump said on Wednesday he believed Beijing "will do anything they can" to make him lose his re-election bid in November, continuing the blame game which attributed China to the global pandemic and the wide spread in the U.S. which has killed at least 60,000 Americans and thrown the U.S. economy into a deep recession.

Geng Shuang, spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, rejected the claim, stressing that the election was the internal affairs of the United States and China has no interest in interfering.

Amid the international major safety crisis, Geng said the international community should work jointly to combat the threat. COVID-19 is the common enemy of the humanity, said Geng, urging the U.S. to take concrete actions to confront the virus rather than China.

China's achievement in fighting against the virus has been well recognized by the international community, which cannot be smeared or denied by U.S. politicians, the spokesperson noted.
