A silver pheasant that broke into a villager's home in Fengxin County, Yichun City of east China's Jiangxi Province has been released back into the wild.

The bird is under China's second-class state protection.

The villager said he was shocked by the big, unknown bird when the pheasant appeared in his house. He then called the police for help.

Staff with the local wildlife protection bureau later identified the bird as a silver pheasant. The bird was in good condition and was not injured. It was released back into the wild.

The silver pheasant is known for its white feathers, representing grace and nobleness in Chinese culture.
