Megan Zhang, Xu Zhengyin

Stuck at home with nothing to watch? Curious about China, but don't know where to begin? Well, we've got you covered with this brand-new video series exploring Chinese culture. All you have to do is press play.

Those with a fear of snakes should perhaps steer clear of the town of Zhanghu in Fujian Province in China's southeast – especially on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month.

On this day, reptiles reign supreme, when the locals come together to celebrate the Snake King Festival. According to local legend, the snake king helped their ancestors in their time of need long ago. So, the snake king is celebrated with an annual parade featuring many slithery serpents.

People here are quite comfortable draping snakes around their necks. But what about you? Watch the video and see what you think!
