China's export of medical supply has increased significantly, the country's customs said in a statement on Friday.

According to the Chinese General Administration of Customs, from March 1 to April 30, China exported medical supplies valued at about 71.2 billion yuan, inclduing 27.8 billion face masks and 130 million protective suits.

"Since April, China's exports of anti-epidemic medical supply have shown a significant increase," said the authority. "The average daily export value has increased from about one billion yuan in the early days to more than three billion yuan in recent days."

The export of those medical supplies has supported the international community in the joint combat against the COVID-19 pandemic, the customs said, adding that it reflects the responsibility of China.

Last Sunday, Chinese regulators took new measures to strengthen quality control over medical supply exports and further regulate outbound procedures to better aid the global battle against COVID-19, which reiterated the importance of supervision on exports of non-surgical face masks need to meet the quality standards of either China or respective export destinations.
