Manas Lake in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is considered the end point of the Manas River, which flows from the Tian Shan mountains. It is the second largest wetland in Xinjiang.

However, in the spring, the arid climate dries up the wetland when there is a lack of precipitation. A total of 30 million cubic meters of water was supplemented to the Manas wetland this year.

The Manas wetland is home to numerous species of fish, plants and birds. Therefore, ecological water supplementation is significant to this area.

Since 2010, a total of 600 million cubic meters of water has been supplemented.
