A special team sent out by the central government on Tuesday urged Wuhan officials to prevent the COVID-19 epidemic from rebounding.

Wuhan, provincial capital of central China's Hubei Province, was the original epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreak. It's also the first city where the deadly disease was reported.

The special liaison group sent by China's Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council visited public venues including local schools and parks at a time when most of the Chinese are celebrating their five-day Labor Day holiday. Relevant epidemic control work needs to be carried out, they noted.

In regards to the reopening of schools, team officials recommended making emergency plans with standardized requirements and conducting constant on-the-spot checks to fully preserve the safety of local students and faculties.
