Inspired by UK's Captain Tom Moore, a 97-year-old Russian World War II veteran has launched a fundraiser for Russian doctors battling the coronavirus. Zinaida Korneva launched a website to share her stories that has already raised more than 26,000 U.S. dollars for the families of Russian doctors and medical staff who sacrificed themselves during the fight against COVID-19. Korneva also knitted Captain Moore a pair of wool socks, which she mailed on Tuesday, in hopes that they would reach him ahead of Victory in Europe Day on May 8.
