Live: Wild crested ibises in northwest China to hatch eggs
Updated 09:01, 07-May-2020

With a hole appearing on the egg two days ago, a pair of wild crested ibises named Honghong and Huohuo in Yangxian County, northwest China's Shaanxi Province, is expected to hatch new life soon.

The crested ibis is one of the world's most endangered species. In 1981, only seven wild crested ibises were discovered in Yangxian County. The population has grown consistently thanks to decades of conservation. There are over 3,000 crested ibises in the wild worldwide, including 2,500 in China, 500 in Japan and another 309 in South Korea.
