A sandstorm swept over Niamey, the capital of Niger, with a large wall of sand engulfing buildings as it rolled over the city on May 4, 2020. Large plumes of reddish dust appeared to be hundreds of meters high. Sandstorms are common across West Africa during the dry season which usually lasts from January to April.
