What the West could learn from COVID-19

Why have Asian countries performed much better than Western countries during the COVID-19 crisis? There are deep cultural factors at work – in Asia, people have more trust in the government and more willingness to cooperate with the authorities. One important lesson that COVID-19 should have taught the West is that the state and the relationship between the government and society are very important in managing a crisis like this.
