U.S. COVID-19 cases top 1.3 million, over 78,000 deaths

The number of COVID-19 cases in the U.S. reached 1,309,541 as of 12:32 a.m. EDT Sunday, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.

On Saturday, 25,621 new confirmed COVID-19 cases were diagnosed in the country.

At least 78,795 people have died in the U.S. from the novel coronavirus, with 1,615 new fatalities reported on Saturday.
