As the environment improves at Tianshan Tianchi Scenic Area in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the population of wildlife has also increased. And on May 8, two tourists encountered a herd of red deer.

"It was my first time seeing so many red deer, I am so happy and excited," said Sun Haishan, one of the tourists. "We went down from Maya Mountain and saw a herd of red deer foraging on the hillside. We wanted to take photos, but startled them. They flocked back to the forest while one of them stopped and looked back at us."

It is the red deer's breeding season. There are about six or seven groups of the deer in the scenic area. In recent years, the scenic area has strengthened its wildlife conservation and environment protection through initiatives such as the Natural Forest Protection Project.
