Chinese President Xi Jinping has visited the northern Chinese province of Shanxi, to investigate its recovery from the coronavirus pandemic. In the provincial capital, Taiyuan, the Chinese president learned about work resumption and upgrades to traditional manufacturing, as well as ecological and environmental protection efforts. On Monday, President Xi praised the ongoing work at an organic day-lily farm in Datong city, and learned about poverty alleviation efforts in the city's Xiping township. He then visited the Yungang Grottoes, where he heard about historical and cultural heritage protection efforts. He called the grottoes a "treasure of human civilization".
