10 killed, 15 injured in construction site collapse in southern Vietnam

An incident at a construction site in Vietnam's southern Dong Nai Province killed 10 people and injured 15 others on Thursday, Vietnam News Agency reported.

The incident occurred at around 3:00 p.m. local time as part of the construction site's wall and scaffolding collapsed when builders were working on the front part of a factory of a South Korean company based in Dong Nai Province which produces diapers, milk bottles and tampons.

50 to 60 workers were buried by thousands of tonnes of concrete, stone and scaffolding, according to a witness.

Eight people were found dead on the spot while two died after being transferred to hospital. At least 15 others were injured.

According to local media, the collapsed wall is around five meters high and 100 meters long. 

A further search and rescue operation is underway.
