Millions of Thais have lost their jobs as a result of the measures to curb coronavirus, with experts predicting that up to 10 million will lose their jobs in the next few months. More than half of the Thai population are informal workers, with the majority living from hand to mouth.

The "pantry of sharing" concept has sprung up all over the country to enable people to share consumer goods, such as foods, seasoning sauces and beverages during the COVID-19 pandemic. People in need are free to open the pantry placed on the sides of roads and take what they need. It has become a space for communities to share any excess food items they may have from their garden or kitchen so these items don't go to waste. The idea has been seen as a way to help people who have lost their income during this difficult period.  (Correspondent: Dusita Saokaew)
