A butterfly's life: volunteers record life cycle of Chinese butterfly

Conservation volunteers in east China's Nanjing City recorded the entire life cycle of Chinese luehdorfia, a butterfly species endemic to China.

In about 70 days, the butterfly's entire life was recorded on camera, including four stages: egg, larva, pupa and adult.

The butterfly has yellow and black stripes that resemble the skin of a tiger.

It's under second-class state protection in the country and is considered a treasure among insect experts.
