Updated 2020.05.21 18:36 GMT+8

A one-month-old Brazilian tapir baby made its debut at Chimelong Safari Park on Tuesday.

The female tapir cub, covered with white spots and stripes, was born on April 18.

The Brazilian tapir baby now gains 0.5 kilograms a day from breastfeeding. In six months' time, it will start to eat fruit and forage with its mother. Over time, the baby's markings will also gradually fade.

The Brazilian tapir is listed as vulnerable in the IUCN Red List.
