Chinese Foreign Ministry Thursday urged India to meet each other halfway on the border issue and stressed that it has nothing to do with the U.S.
China's border defense force resolutely safeguards national territorial sovereignty and security, responds to India's infringement activities at the border, and resolutely maintains peace and stability in the border area, said spokesperson Zhao Lijian.
Zhao urged India to abide by the agreements that the two sides have signed, and refrain from any unilateral actions that will complicate the border situation, and make practical efforts to maintain peace in the border.
Alice Wells, a top U.S. diplomat for South Asia, accused China of employing border clashes with India to try to shift the status quo.
Zhao said China and India are negotiating through diplomatic channels and stressed this has nothing to do with the United States.
