Qinghai Province in northwest China marked the International Day for Biological Diversity on Friday by celebrating all wildlife in its key ecological areas.

The region is the source of three major rivers in the country: the Yangtze River, Yellow River and Lancang (Mekong) River.

It is also where the country's first pilot national park will be established.

Years of monitoring shows that Qinghai is home to a number of large beasts like the snow leopard and about 115 bird species.

In recent years, more wildlife activities have been observed, demonstrating its vibrant ecological system.
