Thousands packed the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque in Aceh, the only province in Indonesia that implements Sharia law, to perform Eid Al-Fitr prayers and mark the end of the Holy month of Ramadan.

The government has banned Eid prayers in many major cities and provinces to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Indonesia has confirmed 22,271 COVID-19 cases and 1,372 deaths as of Sunday.
