Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, joined the deliberation with deputies from central Hubei Province at the third session of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) in Beijing on Sunday.

Xi acknowledged the dedicated efforts by Luo Jie, an NPC deputy and also the president of the Taihe Hospital in Hubei's Shiyan City, and his colleagues on the frontline fighting the COVID-19, during the deliberation.

"I saw the TV reports of you saving an 87-year-old patient. More than a dozen medical workers meticulously took care of a patient for dozens of days and finally saved the patient's life. I am really impressed," Xi said.
