Richard Branson's Virgin Orbit failed its first attempt to launch a rocket from a jumbo jet on Monday. The rocket, Launcher One, was affixed to a Boeing 747 and set to be released over the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Southern California, but something went wrong, causing "the mission terminated shortly into the flight."
